With plans modelled off the 1883 Victorian state school No. 1307 which still stands in the development located on the corner of Dorset Road and Burwood highway ferntree Gully, it's easy to see why these dwellings have copious amounts of appeal and street grandeur. One look at this exciting property and it’s obvious what a sensational coup it will be for the lucky purchaser.
A large corner block of some 967.3m2 (approx’) in a location that boasts close proximity to trains, schools and shops as well as transport infrastructure and green recreation reserves. Plans and permits have already been secured for three dwellings to be constructed on the site and there’s no doubt that potential occupants will be clamouring for a chance to live in such a great area.
The trains, shops and restaurants of Boronia Central are less than three kilometres away and there’s a choice of supermarkets at either Upper Ferntree Gully or Mountain Gate Shopping Centre. Local attractions include the Tim Neville Arboretum and the weekend market at Upper Ferntree Gully. If you’re in the market for a blockbuster investment, don’t miss this one!
Primary School No.1307 was built by Mr N W Frogly and completed in 1883, Mrs Mary Maddicks was the first teacher and she lived in the four-room house which is attached to the classroom. In 1901 a new classroom was added in a sympathetic way using similar materials to the original classroom. In 1904 the verandahs to the teacher's house had some weatherboard alterations and additions but these additions have since been removed. Built of locally made brick with a slate roof the school is of considerable local historic interest as the original classroom and attached teacher's house are remarkably intact and there are very few unaltered school buildings of this period in good condition in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
